We can always count on Rosie O'Donnell to tell us what's on her mind via her blog, and Britney's current situation is no exception. This is what her latest reads:
"I remember the tunnel as it appeared on the news, lit by headlights, flashlights, red lights. Between the cement tall pillars was a heap of twisted metal. I saw it then, and I can see it now. Diana dead. She will be trying to get away, but they will chase her, just as they chased her into that church yesterday. There were dozens of them, jostling their way into sanctuary, elbowing past each other, just to creep closer to her. Even her last-minute, folded-hand prayers can't be kept sacred. There can be no silent moments in a crowd; no silence, and no secrets. At eight years old, she bravely stood before a microphone. By 17, she had sold 25 million records. Where were the sidewalk-skinned knees, the chalk stained hands, the monkey bars, the passed notes? A Disney set is not a childhood, no matter how many bright colors they use, or how cheerful the script. Not a girl, barely even a woman yet, they chased her. Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas reportedly sold seats at a table next to hers for $50,000 at a recent bash, and she still commands between $250,000 and $400,000 just for showing up at events.
Elizabeth Arden has sold nearly $100 million worth of its Britney perfumes-Believe, Curious, and Fantasy.
The photo agency X17, which has a team trailing her 24-7, estimates that Britney accounts for 30 percent of its revenue: It sold $2.5 million worth of Britney photos in 2007 alone, including $500,000 for its exclusive Bald Britney pics.

Dear God, please let this one be a false alarm! Britney Spears and her married pap boyfriend Adnan were on their usual date at Rite Aid the other night.
At first we figured Britney was there to fill up on her "vitamins" but if you look closely at the photo below you can see she's checking out pregnancy tests.

Britney Almost Chased Off Road By Paps
Britney Spears took a break from Adnan last night and went on a little shopping spree--but a Spears' outing wouldn't be complete without some drama.
Spears and her leach Sam Lufti drove all the way to the San Fernando Valley with speeds up to 100 MPH. The popo quickly got involved with the car chase and pulled over Britney along with the paps that were chasing her. A lot of photographers were cited and some were arrested but Britney didn't get any ticket, the police just let her go. She reportedly told the police one of the pap cars tried to "run her off the road."
She then drove back to Studio City to go to Rite Aid but it was closed so she walked over to Ralphs to do some shopping.
At some point she must have realized she wasn't wearing pants because she hit up Kitson Women and Men on Robertson Blvd at 1:30AM and made them open the store for her. Luckily she didn't do any nude shopping this time around.

Ryan Seacrest Talks To Sam Lufti
Ryan Seacrest talked to Sam Lufti to clear up some of the latest Britney shenanigans. Sam says Britney's middle of the night shopping spree was inspired by sheer boredom, and there's nothing to worry about regarding her mental health. He says she'll be able to see her kids "very soon" too.
He also says Brit has no intentions of getting married with Adnan, but didn't mention anything about their current status of their relationship.

There were no ambulances involved, no shrieks of hysteria, no locking herself inside a room with Jayden James.
But Britney Spears still enjoyed a wild evening last night, one that involved dinner, shopping and an utter lack of pants. Let’s review the time line, courtesy of Us Weekly:
7 p.m. The singer and celebrity gossip hound/boy toy Adnan Ghalib eat dinner at Gaucho Grill in Sherman Oaks. Britney chows down on two beef empanadas, grilled salmon, spinach and rice and a Coke. She also contributes to a slow death by puffing on a few cigarettes.
11 p.m. Sam Lutfi makes an appearance! Police pull he and Britney over for speeding, but no ticket is issued.
Along with Lutfi, Spears — in a crotch-length spangled green dress, ripped fishnets and her double-breasted corduroy pea coat — hits up Ralph’s supermarket, exiting with two carts of groceries.
As Team Crazy leaves the store, Britney answers questions from a slew of entertainment news journalists. Some examples:
Q: Britney, what do you want to say to Adnan on TV?
A: (Thinks for a second) “I think he’s a nice person.”

Television personality/ psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw's visit to Britney Spears' room at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles Saturday morning (reportedly without her prior knowledge or consent) has received considerable criticism since it was announced over the weekend. But according to the doctor, he was simply doing the Spears family a favor.
On Monday morning (January 7), McGraw appeared on CBS' "Early Show" to refute widespread speculation of his motives. Some have accused McGraw of exploiting Spears' situation for the purposes of self-promotion, considering the fact that he held a brief press conference following his 15-minute visit and had planned to air a special episode about Spears on his syndicated talk show Tuesday.
According to McGraw, he visited Britney "at the request of her family." The psychologist claims he spoke with Brit's mother, Lynne Spears; her pregnant 16-year-old sister, Jamie Lynn; and Brit's brother, Bryan, before making the trip to Cedars-Sinai. The family was "very frustrated that she apparently wasn't going to be held for a longer period of time," he said.
McGraw said the Spears family called him Thursday night, just hours before Spears was transported by ambulance to the hospital, following a child-custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline, who temporarily has sole legal and physical custody of the couple's children.
"It was Lynne," McGraw said of the phone call. "She has a very close relationship with my wife, Robin." According to Dr. Phil, Lynne "was very upset, which you would expect — any parent would be." He then revealed that the Spears first reached out to him "over a year ago, and I have maintained a running dialogue with them over the last year."
Spears was reportedly already packing to leave Cedars-Sinai when McGraw arrived on Saturday. According to various reports, Spears responded coolly to McGraw's visit, initially left the room when he showed up and said very little to him when she returned.
In a statement released to ETonline.com on Saturday, McGraw said that his "meeting with Britney and some of her family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention. She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room. We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car. I am very concerned for her."
A representative for McGraw's program had told MTV News over the weekend that the psychologist's show on Tuesday would focus on Britney, but the rep wouldn't say whether Spears or any members of her family would appear on the episode. But on Monday, McGraw issued a statement, saying the program would not be happening after all.
"As was widely reported this weekend, at the request of concerned family members, I visited Britney Spears in the hospital," the statement reads. "The details of that visit will, of course, remain private. We had planned to tape a 'Dr. Phil Now' show today, focusing not on the tabloid side of Britney's latest problems, but instead on the very serious issues surrounding this case. Clearly, it is not just Britney's family struggling to find a way to protect adult children who cannot be ordered or compelled to seek help. Because the Spears situation is too intense at this time, and out of consideration to the family, I have made the decision not to move forward with the taping at this particular time. Britney and her family are in our prayers, and we ask that they be in yours."
On Monday, McGraw directed the following statement to Britney (posted on ETonline.com, from a segment airing on the show Monday night):
"You can make this OK. Your family loves you. You may not always agree with what they say, with what they do, but they've loved you when you weren't lovable. Turn to the people that love you and listen. You have two children and you are the one in this world to protect them. There is no sacrifice that Lynne won't make for you and there is no sacrifice that your father won't make. They are the people that want nothing from you, and everything for you."

Avril Lavigne Hates Britney Spears
Would you laugh if someone told you modern rock radio's next star hails from Napanee, Ontario? Probably.
But hold your laughter because Avril Lavigne is about to defiantly kick down rock 'n' roll's doors and announce her arrival at the big party.
Not bad for a 17-year-old who went from being a high school student in a small town, to signing a major label with Arista Records, to writing and recording a debut album all in the span of a year and a half.
"I'm so glad it's done. I'm so glad," says Lavigne. "I've definitely grown a lot in that whole period - especially as a person."
The long road Lavigne has managed to traverse in an alarmingly short period of time is the stuff of dreams. After sending around a videotape of herself singing and performing, Lavigne got a reply from Nettwerk Records, expressing an interest in working a demo deal with her. It was the ticket out of small-town Ontario she'd been waiting for. "So they hooked me up with a writer and I ended up moving to New York because I was going to write with him for awhile."
Sounds simple enough, except the fates had something different in mind for Lavigne.
"One day, someone from Arista came by the studio and heard me and wanted to bring "LA" Reid (president of Arista) to come hear me," she continues. "I sang a couple of songs for him and he wanted to sign me right away. I wasn't even shopping for a deal! That doesn't happen very often. I mean, sometimes bands take 10 years to get a deal! So I was very, very, very lucky."
What had Reid and the rest of the Arista label all excited about, is Lavigne's fresh blend of spunky edginess and naive charm. And a voice that is equal parts Natalie Imbruglia and Lisa Loeb's poppy, sweetness and Alanis Morissette and Courtney Love's poignantly venomous, biting petulance. All rolled into a dirty blonde, blue-eyed, skater punk princess package that's sure to have the boys want her and the girls want to be her. It's suggested that one day Lavigne might have to deal with the pressures of being a role model for young girls just like her.
"It won't really make me change," she says. "I'm not worried about what other people say. I'm just going to be myself. I'm not going to try to pretend I'm someone else. I'm not a bad person. I like to have fun and I like to be myself. Hopefully, people will see that."
Just don't expect her to be another Britney Spears. "I mean, the way she dresses — would you walk around the street in a fuckin' bra?" she asks rhetorically. "I'm not trying to dis anyone, but with me, the clothes I wear onstage are the clothes I would wear to school or go shopping. I'm not gonna go up onstage and dress different. Britney Spears goes up onstage and dresses like a showgirl. She's not being herself up there because she's dancing like a ho. Is she ho? She says she's a virgin. Y'know, it's just not clicking. She's doing one thing and saying another thing, y'know? It's definitely not what I'm going to do."
So while Lavinge ponders her upcoming success, she remains grounded. With a level of maturity that belies her teenage years, she is about to face the inevitable maelstrom that comes with the release of her debut album. A collection of punky, but poppy rock 'n' roll songs delivered with a voice that can be precious and tender one minute and acerbic the next, Let Go has a chance to win fans over from all kinds of music tastes. What the press, which was busy moralizing (“her poor little boys”) and faux-empathizing (“she needs help”), never acknowledged was that Spears’s crack-up was the most interesting performance of her life. She seemed to be trying, with befuddled brilliance, to tell the truth. She recoiled from celebrity culture by mortifying her own flesh. She stripped herself, publicly, of her sexuality. She presented herself as a grotesque. Few gestures are as symbolically rich as the shaving of a head. That’s what monastics do when they reject the flesh to dedicate themselves to the spirit. Britney in police standoff; hospitalized
After a three-hour standoff with police last night at her LA home, beleaguered Britney Spears was taken to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on a gurney for an evaluation. Police were called around 8 p.m. to Brit's house last night "about a custodial dispute regarding Britney Spears' children," said LAPD officer Jason Lee, after Britney refused to hand over her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden, to her ex-husband Kevin Federline. "While officers were on the scene, they observed Ms. Spears under the influence of an unknown substance," added Lee. Britney was "hysterical and just wanted to keep the kids overnight," an insider told the New York Post. According to the paper, the singer is currently on 72-hour hold at the hospital, where she is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation and is being tested for drugs. Britney is reportedly under suicide watch.

Kevin Federline was granted temporary full physical and legal custody of his and Britney Spears' children at an emergency hearing held in an LA courthouse today. Britney's visitation rights with the children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, have been suspended. Upon exiting the LA courthouse, Kevin's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told In Touch , "I'm not happy about any of these events going on," adding, "There are no winners." The order is in effect until January 14, when there will be a hearing to determine where the case goes.
Earlier today, Britney Spears' lawyer Tara Scott left the chambers looking extremely unhappy alongside Kaplan after a 20-minute meeting behind closed doors. According to insiders, the mood at the courthouse was somber as people were still in shock over the events that took place last night. Just yesterday, Scott filed legal papers requesting that Trope and Trope be removed from Britney's case, citing a "breakdown in communication" between the law firm and the troubled pop star.

Dr. Phil is coming to the aid of troubled star Britney Spears.
The singer was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles early Saturday morning where she was being held for observation following her shocking meltdown on January 3.
Dr. Phil visited Britney for an hour in her hospital room shortly before she left with her father, Jamie Spears, and returned to her Beverly Hills home, which she had been driven away from Thursday strapped to a gurney in the back of an ambulance.
"My meeting with Britney and some family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in direct need of both medical and psychological intervention," he said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight and The Insider.
"She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room," the doctor added. "We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car. I am very concerned for her."
According to the website TMZ, Dr. Phil, who is friends with Britney's mother, Lynne, is taping a Britney special for his popular show which will air on Wednesday.
In Touch has learned that hospital staff decided to release Britney, who had been admitted for 72 hours observation, after determining she was not a danger to herself.

The pop star, accompanied by Finalpixx photographer Adnan Ghalib, popped into the Daily Grill in Palm Desert around 10 a.m. yesterday.
"She seemed in a really good mood, laughing with the guy she was with," the restaurant's manager told People.com. Spears shielded herself behind large, dark sunglasses and "had a champagne mimosa to drink," he said. She stayed at the restaurant about an hour, as "Vegas Confidential" writer Norm Clarke first reported. Spears, 26, had been keeping company with Ghalib, 35, before her recent meltdown.
Meanwhile, TV shrink "Dr. Phil" McGraw, who was with Spears when she was released from the hospital, said she's OK but still needs psychological help, the syndicated programs "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider" reported. "My meeting with Britney and some family members [Saturday] morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention," McGraw said in a statement released to the media. Britney was not under the influence
Britney’s visitation has been “suspended pending further order of the Court.” Although police initially suspected Britney Spears was “under the influence of an unknown substance” during a nearly three-hour standoff with police Thursday night, authorities have since determined Spears was clean and sober. According to Los Angeles police Officer Ana Aguirre, there was no evidence the pop star had been drinking or doing drugs during the Jan. 3 incident.
“Our understanding is that was not the case,” she said. “There was a time where she was within the residence and wasn’t available to be speaking to the officers, apparently,” added Aguirre. “There was no threat to the children.” Aguirre confirmed both Spears’ children were turned over to her ex-husband Kevin Federline and the pop star was taken to the hospital.
“We’re not aware of any type of injuries that she sustained” and she was not combative with authorities, Aguirre said. Spears is currently at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she is reportedly on a 72-hour lockdown for mental evaluation.

Alli Sims Didn't Break Down Door to Get to Britney Spears
Britney Spears' cousin and former assistant Alli Sims was not involved with rescuing the singer during her breakdown last night.
PageSix.com reported Sims used "brute force to pry the singer out of the bathroom where she had barricaded herself with son Jayden James late last night."
But Sims tells Usmagazine.com: "I absolutely was not there. And even if I was there I would not have banged down the door with a hammer, that's not my style. I would have knocked!"

Kevin Federline Awarded Sole Physical Custody of Boys
Britney Spears' visitation rights have been "suspended pending further order of the court," L.A. County Commissioner Scott Gordon said late Friday.
The order is in effect until January 14.
There will then be a hearing to determine where the case goes.
The decision comes after Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan called for an emergency hearing in the ongoing custody battle this morning — hours after Spears was rushed to the hospital.
After the 40-minute hearing Friday, Kaplan told reporters, "there are no winners here," adding that he was "not happy about any of the events that have happened."

Britney Spears was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center this morning, a hospital insider tells Usmagazine.com. She is currently at her Beverly Hills home with her father, Jamie.
"Britney and her people left already," the source tells Us. The news was first reported by Entertainment Tonight.
ET reports the pop star, 26, left the hospital via underground tunnel with Dr. Phil because, "there was no reason to hold her longer."
"Now Britney is under the supervision of her family again," a source close to Spears tells Us.
Spears was rushed to the hospital after disobeying court custody orders Thursday night. To see a timeline of what went down, click here.
Yesterday, L.A. County Commissioner Scott Gordon suspended her visitation rights with sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 15 months "pending further order of the court."
The order is effect until a January 14 hearing.
On Friday, her distraught mother Lynne, who is home in Kentwood, said, "Just say prayers."

Amerikan pop şarkıcısı Britney Spears, bu sabah acil servise kaldırıldı. TMZ adlı internet sitesinin haberine göre, şarkıcı "psikolojik muayene" için Cedars hastanesine sevk edildi.
Ünlülerle ilgili haberleriyle tanınan siteye göre, Spears velayeti babalarında olan çocuklarını dün gece eski kocasına vermeye yanaşmayınca evde tartışma çıktı. Son zamanlarda sık sık skandallarla gündeme gelen ABD'li pop star Britney Spears, bugün sağlık görevlileri tarafından evinden alınarak hastaneye götürüldü.
Ünlülerin hayatıyla ilgili bilgiler veren internet sitesi TMZ'nin haberine göre Spears, polisin kendisini velayet davasının çözümü için çağırmasından sonra hastaneye kaldırıldı. TMZ, Spears'in psikolojik değerlendirme için "tıbbi gözaltı"na alındığını ifade etti. Ünlülerin haber sitesi, polisin dün akşam saatlerinde pop starı evinde "ne olduğu bilinmeyen" bir maddenin etkisi altında buldu. Polis yetkilileri, eve Spears'in 2 çocuğunu babalarına geri vermeyi reddetmesi üzerine çağrıldıklarını açıkladı.
Spears, eski kocası Kevin Federline ile çocuklarının velayeti için uzun süredir savaş veriyor. Ancak mahkemenin Ekim ayında pop starın çocuklarını görme süresine kısıtlama getirmesinden bu yana sansasyonel hareketlerde bulunan Spears, magazin basınının gündeminden düşmüyor.

Britney Jean Spears (Kentwood, Luisiana, 2 de Dezembro de 1981) é uma cantora norte-americana.
Britney vendeu cerca de 91 milhões de albums e 60 milhões de singles, no mundo todo de acordo com a revista TIME. Só nos Estados Unidos vendeu 31 milhões de discos segundo a tabela da RIAA[1]. Sendo a única cantora a ter seus cinco álbuns entre o top 5 na parada da Billboard e ainda a mais jovem cantora, aos 21 anos, a ganhar uma estrela na Calçada da Fama.
Spears entrou em processo de separação do dançarino Kevin Federline, com quem manteve um relacionamento de dois anos e um mês, tendo dois filhos, Sean Preston (nascido a 14 de Setembro de 2005) e Jayden James Spears Federline (nascido a 12 de Setembro de 2006)[2].
Biografia
Apesar de se apresentar em concursos locais desde os 3 anos de idade, a carreira de Britney Spears só teve início aos oito anos quando fez um teste para o programa Mickey Mouse Club (Clube do Mickey) da Disney junto com futuras estrelas como Christina Aguilera e Justin Timberlake, sem, no entanto, conseguir o papel, por ser jovem demais. Mudou-se para Nova Iorque para estudar dança e teatro.
Esses estudos lhe foram úteis, pois dois anos depois ela conseguiu uma participação em uma peça de teatro na off-Broadway e em seguida, um ano depois, conseguiu ingressar no elenco do Mickey Mouse Club. No entanto, o programa foi cancelado após duas temporadas depois da entrada de Britney. Spears voltou para casa para estudar e levar uma vida normal.
Aos quinze anos Britney voltou para Nova Iorque e assinou um contrato com a Jive Records para gravar seu primeiro álbum, ...Baby One More Time.
O estrelato
O single "...Baby One More Time", saiu em 1998. O sucesso da canção fez com que Britney realizasse uma pequena turnê pelos shopping dos Estados Unidos chamada Hair Zone Mall Tour, ou simplesmente Mall Tour, e fizesse alguns shows de abertura do grupo 'N Sync até 12 de Janeiro de 1999 quando seu disco de estréia, ...Baby One More Time foi lançado e logo na primeira semana foi n° 1 na lista de mais vendidos da Billboard com 125 mil cópias. Deste álbum além do hit "..Baby One More Time" saíram os singles de Sometimes, (You Drive Me) Crazy, Born To Make You Happy na(Europa) e From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart nos (Estados Unidos e América do Sul).
Em setembro de 1999 Britney estampou a capa da revista de música Rolling Stone, usando apenas um short e soutien. O que causou muita polêmica entre os pais dos fãs e muitos elogios vindos dos homens. A "Associação da Família Americana" que presa pelo conservadorismo definiu as fotos da publicação como "uma mistura perturbadora de inocência infantil e sexualidade adulta" e exigiu que a revista fosse recolhida das bancas.
As especulações sobre sua vida íntima aumentavam, depois de tanto ser especulada sobre a vida sexual ao lado do seu então namorado Justin Timberlake, Britney na tentativa de abafar as perguntas indiretas declarou ser virgem e que ia continuar nessa condição até o casamento. Isso, porém, não impediu a invasão de sua vida privada.
Em maio de 2000, a cantora lançou seu segundo disco, "Oops!...I Did It Again", que vendeu mais de 1,319 milhões de cópias apenas na primeira semana, quebrando o recorde de álbum feminino mais vendido na primeira semana, e estreando em primeiro lugar de vendas novamente. O CD foi gravado em apenas dois meses, pois os produtores acreditavam que Britney não podia se afastar da mídia. Deste álbum, a cantora lançou também os singles: "Lucky", "Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know" e "Stronger" que entraram no TOP 3 de todas as paradas em que entraram. No palco, ela veio explorando figurino e coreografias cada vez mais sensuais e explícitas. Ela chegou ao Brasil em janeiro de 2001 como a maior estrela pop da noite adolescente do festival Rock in Rio, com sua tour mundial "Oops!... I Did It Again World Tour", acusada de fazer playback, Britney supostamente, recebeu váias de muitas pessoas que assistiam seu espetáculo quando na música "Lucky" uma bandeira dos Estados Unidos apareceu no telão.
Ainda em 2001, mais precisamente em novembro, lançou o seu terceiro álbum de inéditas, chamado simplesmente Britney, que alcançou 745 mil cópias vendidas na semana de lançamento, tornando-se a primeira cantora a estrear seus 3 álbuns de inéditas em primeiro lugar. O primeiro single do álbum, "I'm A Slave 4 U", chocou o mundo com um clipe mostrando que ela realmente não era mais inocente, revelando uma Britney mais madura e provocativa do que nunca. Também contou com mais 5 singles: "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman (lançado também na trilha sonora do filme a qual Spears foi protagonista, Crossroads) ", "Overprotected", "Boys" , "I Love Rock 'N' Roll" e "Anticipating" (no Brasil e na Austrália). Para divulgar o CD, Britney Spears lançou sua segunda tour mundial, "Dream Within a Dream Tour", estimada em 18 milhões de dólares de equipamentos e com todos os ingressos esgotados antes do primeiro show.
Em 2002 após o término do namoro de quatro anos com o cantor Justin Timberlake, Britney esgotada devido a carga de shows, declarou que tiraria férias de 6 meses, tempo que ela usou pra gravar o 4º álbum "In The Zone". Este CD diferenciou-se dos anteriores pelo seu caráter erotizado. Mais uma vez estreando no topo da Billboard com 609 mil cds vendidos na semana de lançamento, Britney quebra o próprio recorde de única artista feminina a ter quatro álbuns consecutivos estreando em primeiro lugar.
Britney está mais madura musicalmente e dessa vez explorando abusivamente da sensualidade, com canções como "Touch Of My Hand" e "Breathe On Me", o álbum lhe rendeu "Toxic" que conquistou o tão almejado Grammy (melhor gravação dance) e contou com mais três singles: "Me Against The Music" dueto com Madonna, "Everytime" e "Outrageous", e também a sua terceira turnê mundial "The Onyx Hotel Tour". O retorno
Depois de ter sido alvo de muitas polémicas como: ser internada três vezes em clínicas de desintoxicação por causa do uso excessivo de drogas, bater em um paparazzi, dirigir com o filho no colo e raspar o próprio cabelo, Britney tenta estabilizar-se novamente no mundo da música. Em maio de 2007, fez a tour "The M+M's Tour", que se apresentou na Flórida e Califórnia. Tratavam-se de pequenos shows para um número limitado de pessoas, contando com alguns de seus maiores sucessos da carreira (...Baby One More Time, I'm a Slave 4 U, Do Something, Breathe On Me e Toxic). No dia 30 de Agosto de 2007, a canção Gimme More foi tocada pela primeira vez por uma rádio norte-americana. Gimme More é o primeiro single do quinto álbum de estúdio da cantora.
Seu retorno oficial foi no Video Music Awards da MTV norte-americana no dia 9 de Setembro de 2007, porém foi muito criticada porque estava tensa e nervosa, fazendo playback e revelando uma postura pouco entusiasmante.
A canção "Gimme More" foi lançada oficialmente no dia 18 de setembro de 2007, e ficou em primeiro lugar em nove países na loja digital iTunes, sendo esses países Estados Unidos, Canadá, Reino Unido, França, Alemanha, Irlanda, Austrália, Luxemburgo e Nova Zelândia.
O videoclipe de "Gimme More" foi lançado no dia 5 de outubro de 2007, no iTunes, onde Britney era duas personagens, uma Stripper morena e a mulher loira que fica apenas observando-a dançar em seu mastro. Porém, há outra versão do vídeo, em que a Britney stripper tira a blusa que está vestindo e fica com os seios à mostra. O videoclipe de "Gimme More" foi duramente criticado, por se diferenciar do estilo dos outros videoclipes da cantora.
O lançamento do álbum foi no dia 30 de outubro de 2007, e em menos de 24 horas de vendas, alcançou o 1º lugar em cinco países. O álbum Blackout recebeu diversos elogios, que vão de "Este álbum é melhor do que qualquer coisa que Gwen Stefani já fez" até "Neste álbum não tem mais músicas bonitinhas, como I'm Not a Girl Not Yet a Woman". Porém, esse excelente resultado de Blackout pode não ser uma garantia que Spears está de volta, apesar de este ano já ter recebido um título de 'Fênix', pois renasce de suas próprias cinzas.
"Blackout" foi o único álbum da cantora que não estreou em 1º lugar na Billboard. Isso porque, minutos antes a Billboard alterou as suas regras de contabilização de charts (como o Top 200), deixando Britney em segundo lugar, perdendo apenas para o álbum do grupo veterano Eagles, com seu álbum Long Road Out of Eden.
Porém, mesmo que "Blackout" recebesse uma massiva divulgação, como aconteceu com o In the Zone, seria pouco provável que a cantora ultrapassasse o grupo, tendo em vista que, este é o primeiro álbum de inédita dos Eagles depois de 28 anos de afastamento e, por fim, estar custando apenas US$ 3,00!
O novo álbum de inéditas de Britney vendeu, aproximadamente 690 mil cópias, em duas semanas, um excelente número, tendo visto que nos últimos tempo tem sido muito difícil vender uma quantidade de cópias tão boas quanto em 1999, já que há pirataria dos álbuns, principalmente da Internet. Em Portugal, o álbum estreou na 10º posição do Top 30 Nacional de Vendas na primeira semana, de acordo com a Associação Fonográfica Portuguesa. Além de já ter conquistado um disco de ouro por quantidades de vezes baixada pela internet.
Britney é uma das celebridades mais expostas da actualidade. Cercada de boatos e com sua vida pessoal exposta ao público, Britney transformou-se na estrela favorita dos tablóides de todo o mundo. Em abril de 1999, com apenas dezessete anos, Britney foi capa da revista Rolling Stone, com fotos ao estilo Lolita. A polémica estava criada, pois mostrava uma Britney mais provocante da qual o público estava acostumado a ver. Em Agosto de 2003, Britney gerou mais polémica ao dar uma entrevista à revista W Magazine,onde admitiu que havia perdido a virgindade dois anos antes com o cantor Justin Timberlake.
Durante a performance de abertura do VMA 2003, Britney e Christina Aguilera cantaram trechos de Like a Virgin e vestidas de noiva, para homenagear os 20 do VMA e os 20 anos de carreira de Madonna que estava vestida de noivo. Britney e Madonna beijaram-se na boca, fazendo com que a performance recebesse extrema atenção da mídia mundial, que foi notícia de abertura de vários telejornais internacionais e capa de várias revistas, incluíndo em Portugal. Foi nos bastidores desta atuação, que Britney mostrou a música "Me Against The Music" (apenas com a sua voz) e perguntou a opinião de Madonna, depois, Madonna disse a Britney que elas deverião fazer "algo juntas" e Britney convidou Madonna a fazer o dueto. Spears também casou-se com seu amigo de infância Jason Allen Alexander, no dia 3 de Janeiro de 2004. No dia seguinte seus advogados entraram com um pedido de anulação da cerimónia. Com isso, o casamento durou apenas 55 horas.
No dia 9 de Setembro de 2007 apresentou-se no VMA, com a música Gimme More anunciando a sua volta no mundo musical. Houve muitas críticas da mídia e rumores, como de ela estar fora de forma, de ter havido confusões nos bastidores e até de que seu salto quebrou no meio da performance.
